If you are considering glucocorticoid injection for your knee pain, don’t make a decision until you check out this important study!

As reported by the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) both physical therapy and intraarticular injections of glucocorticoids have been shown to have clinical benefits for osteoarthritis of the knee. However, the study of 156 patients found physical therapy to be more beneficial than injections after 1 year. Patients who were treated with physical therapy reported having less pain and less disability than those who received injections.
Before choosing the treatment that’s right for you, be sure to explore all your options and discuss with your physician and physical therapist what treatment will be most beneficial for your unique needs and condition.
