Dr. Maurer has been a physical therapist since 2013 and has treated a variety of orthopedic conditions throughout her career. Starting a family and experiencing pregnancy in the past few years inspired her to pursue further training in pelvic health conditions, and she completed Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Continuing Education to expand her knowledge in early 2024.
“Pregnancy is such a beautiful and rewarding experience, but it’s no secret that it comes with physical challenges and changes,” said Dr. Maurer. “After going through the experience twice myself, I was inspired to seek a certification in pelvic health to help women thrive during and even many years after pregnancy.”
While many pelvic floor conditions are related to pregnancy and postpartum, Maurer treats patients with many different types of pelvic floor dysfunction. Common concerns treated by pelvic floor therapists include pelvic pain, dyspareunia (painful intercourse), pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence.
